Victoria Tower

Victoria Tower is situated on a headland overlooking Le Mont Orgueil Castle, Gorey at the north end of Grouville Bay. The area is owned by the National Trust for Jersey and the area is open to visitors, but the Tower itself is not open to the public. In recent years, the full value of this area as a visible migration viewpoint in the Autumn has become clear and numbers of Thrushes, Finches, Larks, Pipits and Wagtails as well as Woodpigeon in November can be spectacular, often exceeding those seen at Noirmont, due to Victoria Tower’s relative proximity to the west coast of Normandy in France. A small copse at the centre can holding interesting migrants in Autumn such as Yellow-browed Warbler, Firecrest, and Cirl Buntings have been regular here in recent years.

Getting There

From Gorey, take Le Mont de Gouray and Le Mont Gabard up the hill heading west until reaching a crossroads as it levels out. Turn sharp right into La Route de la Pouclee et des Quatre Chemins and on reaching a sharp left turn, take the second right, Le Mont Mallet, to a small car park at the end. Please park considerately in this very small area.
