South Africa Halcyon, Marloth Park |
 |
| Four hours drive from Johannesburg, along the N4 Superhighway and just twenty minutes from the Crocodile Bridge entrance to the world famous Kruger National Park. Halcyon is a three bedroomed house, superbly located in a private game park. The "wild township" of Marloth Park is unique in that while the whole area is fenced and gate for your security, there are no fences within it and the birds and animals are free to roam through the bush in which the houses are located. Animals can and do visit daily and Warthogs, Impala, Kudu, Giraffe and Bush Babies are all familiar sights and even Lions are sometimes seen and, more often, heard nearby. |

A night drive around the tracks of Marloth can produce some exciting views of birds such as Eagle Owls (two species), Nightjars and Thicknees amongst others plus the good possibility of seeing Lions, Hyaenas, Duikers and much more. Marloth also has it’s own reserve, "Lionspruit" where White Rhinos are seen regularly. |
| The area is a birdwatcher’s paradise. Over 500 species have been seen in the Kruger Park area and almost anything that has been seen in Kruger may also been seen in Marloth. The Gallery has just a small representation of the vast array of birds that may be encountered. |

Halcyon itself is a beautifully appointed, modern three bedroomed house. It has all you would expect for a comfortable and relaxed break with mains water and electricity, a comfortable lounge, balcony and stoop, giving the choice of inside or outside living. Added to that are both bath and shower rooms and an outside plunge pool ( by the end of 2004). |
| There is a Bush Bar just five minutes away, where good dining is available, and a selection of other restaurants within thirty minutes drive or, if you prefer, modern supermarkets close by, if staying at home is your choice. |
