We were in the St Hellier Harbour area on Sunday morning and noticed a white wading bird with a longish beak and having been trying to find out what sort of bird it is.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Dave

Saw a white stork at the property Beau Desert, Rue de la Garenne, Trinity this flyer noon. Ringed bird.
Looked rather tatty & tired.

A friend of mine has turtle doves (which I believe are quite rare) that have been visiting her garden from time to time throughout the summer. She lives over the railway walk at La Moye and is willing to be contacted if this is of interest.

Really useful to see you including the EXIF data with (some) of your images.

A visiting birding coming to the island next Tuesday for a week. Great "latest sightings section" nice to see it so up to date.

Will be out looking for Balearic. Is there a best time to check out the bays in the evenings for the rafts? Coming from a land locked county I don't get a lot of sea watching it.

Is there somewhere to report any rare sightings to? Just incase!

Thanks very much

Someone may be able to assist or be interested.

I was in St Peter's valley wood on Sunday (28/07/13 morning walking the dogs when i heard a screeching noise. At first my family and I thought it might be kids further along on the swings but as we got closer, the noise was piercing. All of a sudden a extremely large full bodied bird (with large hooked beak) took off from the woods above and to our left and flew ahead of us and then out of the woods. Any ideas what this might be?

We saw a smallish raptor at Greve De Lecq, similar in shape to a harrier larger than a kestrel, with a distinctive dark band on the underside of its tail. Can anyone tell me what it was. We have searched our books and can only come up with a harrier, but not sure.

Thank you
